MY PPLP

1. What I know

2.     What I want to know

     3. How I will learn it

-          Created a video with slides using Presentation and uploaded to YouTube

-          How to embed YouTube video into Blogger

-          How to make an online learning website for students to learn and comprehend as much information on the lesson

-        I took into consideration the assistance provided through the unit and followed Alan’s Blogger videos step by step and embedded the elements as I watched each video.

-        I used the exemplar provided to assist me through the process.

-          Finding the right resources and videos for students to gain knowledge and understanding on PEEL paragraphs and relating them to the topic.

-          How online learning can stay engaging for students whilst learning the content

-          How to be more creative and know what my students lack in the subject of English to write proper essays

-        I used a range of resources and links from YouTube that thoroughly explain each element and component of the intended lesson intention, as well as using the correct ACARA outcomes to suit students learning experience.

-        One of the YouTube links used: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KM51ZhxQ9Uw

-        The Nesa syllabus: https://www.educationstandards.nsw.edu.au/wps/portal/nesa/k-10/learning-areas/english-year-10/english-k-10

-        I had observed my Year 7’s writing skills through their first assessment task undertaken in Term 1 and realised I needed to personalise a lesson on persuasive writing. I also needed to ensure my students know how to follow the PEEL structure

My Personal Professional Learning Plan involves the few fundamental areas for further learning of which I have discovered during the process of creating my website. The first learning area was learning how to create my video with slides on presentation uploading it to YouTube. I also needed to learn how to find suitable video resources that were interactive to enhance my students’ learning and ensure they were engaging for students. Online learning is evolving rapidly, with an increase emphasis on collaborate learning and student engagement (Conard & Donaldson, 2012). This was accomplished by thoroughly watching Alan’s videos provided throughout the unit and following the instructions step by step to reach the outcome presented. I also was inspired by the exemplar provided in the unit to assist me through the creation of the website and presentation as a whole. Moreover, I thoroughly researched appropriate resources to suit the learning experiences for my students of learning how to excel and enhance their writing skills through PEEL paragraphs. I knew these videos needed to be beneficial yet engaging for my students, hence why I have chosen videos from YouTube that were created on PowToon and Canva, as mentioned and presented above. Also, I have used the NESA outcomes to assist me in making the lesson relatable to the key learning area of English. (Nesa, 2019)

The next learning area involves the effort of being more creative through ICT to create and make students benefit from ways of online learning, as well as in class, face-to-face interactions. I was well aware of ensuring that the website I create is safe and beneficial for my students. One of the reasons why I have involved Google Classroom on the website for my students to respond to the task questions was due to gaining a better understanding of where my students are travelling through their learning experience. I had observed my students learning throughout the year and realised that they needed to work on their writing skills, hence why I have based the website around PEEL paragraphs on persuasive texts, as it is an essential part of English writing and essays in higher education (McKnight, 2021). I will further investigate into my students learning to ensure they have a thorough understanding of the tasks required to achieve the best results in their grades. Thus, this will be applied through further observations, class discussions and assessment (AITSL, 2017). On a final note, in my future teachings I hope to present the best learning experiences for my students that will benefit them in various subjects and ensure they fulfil their requirements in assessments and schooling in general.
